Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh on Thursday claimed that an alternative front would form the government at the Centre with the SP as its largest component, and said he would stake claim for the Prime Minister’s post. But it would be decided by all partners, he said.

The SP supremo said that in the initial stage, leaders of like-minded parties had held interactions and it was agreed that the leader of the alternative front would be decided after the elections.

Mr. Singh said the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, was no threat to the SP. Earlier, at an election rally here, he said poor Muslims would get reservation as did backward communities, and weavers’ loans would be waived as was done for farmers.
