With one day to go for Id-ul-Fitr, Hasib should have been preparing to adorn the family dinner table with a sumptuous spread of kebabs , biryani and desserts.
“How are we going to celebrate Id now? All festivities have turned into mourning for us,” said Shahbuddin, Hasib’s fellow villager.
On Thursday evening, Hasib, his brother Junaid and two of their friends were mercilessly attacked by a mob of about 15 persons on a local train after a dispute broke out over a seat.
Junaid was stabbed to death at the Ballabgarh railway station while Hasib, and Shakir, another brother of theirs, sustained injuries.
