IAS academy official denies allegations of corruption

Saurabh Jain, Deputy Director of the Mussoorie-based IAS training academy, refuted on Friday the allegations of corruption levelled against him by Ruby Choudhary, who has been accused of illegally residing at the academy for the past seven months.

On March 31, an FIR was filed at the Mussoorie police station over Ms. Choudhary’s illegal stay at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA).

On Thursday, Ms. Choudhary told the media that she had been staying on the campus to get herself a job at the library, which, she said, was promised to her by Mr. Jain. She also alleged that Mr. Jain had asked her for a bribe of Rs. 20 lakh and she paid him Rs. 5 lakh.

In his statement emailed to The Hindu , Mr. Jain stated: “The allegation that I promised to get her a job in the library on a consideration of Rs. 20 lakh is totally baseless and I strongly refute it.”

He threatened legal action against Ms. Choudhary. “I bring on record my anguish caused by these allegations … I shall be taking stringent legal action including filing of civil and criminal defamation case claiming damages, for causing extreme mental agony and loss of reputation to me,” Mr. Jain said in the email.

A press note issued by D. Nariala, Joint Director, LBSNAA, also refuted the allegations against Mr. Jain. The press note further stated that the Sector Officer at the Dehradun branch of CB-CID, Shahjehan Ansari, head of the Special Investigation Team constituted to investigate the case, visited the academy on Friday and interacted with the officials and staff.
