I am receiving threats, says Yogita’s mother

The mother of seven-year-old Yogita Thakre who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Maharashtra BJP president Nitin Gadkari’s car on May 19, on Saturday lodged a complaint against unidentified persons alleging that they were threatening her to withdraw the case, police said.

Vimal Thakre in her complaint said that some persons in police uniform had visited their house and even called on mobile and threatened her to withdraw the case.

Yogita had died of smothering in Gadkari’s car on May 19 while playing in “Gadkariwada,” residence of BJP leader in Mahal in eastern part of city.

Police had initially said the death was due to suffocation but post-mortem confirmed that the girl was smothered to death.

Blood stains were also found on girl’s undergarments fuelling speculations of rape on her. However, detailed post-mortem report did not confirm the abuse.

Police later registered an offence of murder but no arrest has been made so far.

Meanwhile, Ms. Vimal Thakre and her husband Ashok Thakre moved the High Court, demanding a CBI probe into the death.
