Hunt on for stolen car of Shinde’s son-in-law

February 17, 2013 01:52 am | Updated 01:52 am IST - Mumbai:

In a top priority job, Mumbai’s cops are racing against time to trace a missing SUV belonging to Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s son-in-law.

According to sources, three police teams have been formed to trace the Mitsubishi Pajera, which was reportedly stolen between 11.30 p.m. on Thursday and 5 a.m. on Friday from near the Bawala compound, where it was parked by the chauffeur of Congress politician Raj Shroff on Thursday night. The chauffeur is a resident of the area.

Following pressure from New Delhi, the city Crime Branch has kept aside its more important assignments and joined the hunt for the vehicle.

“The Crime Branch’s Unit III has been urgently put on the case while being directed to round up all suspected vehicle lifters and history-sheeters. They are being aided by cops from Nashik and Thane,” a police officer said on condition of anonymity.
