Except for ten houses, all the houses in Mizoram-Myanmar border Lungphunlian hamlet, which had 78 houses, were heavily damaged by the massive hailstorm that hit the Northeastern parts of the State last evening.

Sources in the Disaster Management and Rehabilitation department said that the hails were reported to be as big as eggs, causing severe damage to the tin roofs of the houses.

No death reported

No one was killed or injured in the hailstorm while squall and heavy rainfall damaged eight houses in neighbouring Tualcheng village and Hnahlan village where a number of grapevines were also damaged.

Meanwhile several houses were also reported to have been ravaged by squall in south Mizoram Lunglei district’s Lungrang village last night.
