Himachal to consider 50 p.c.subsidy to farmers

The Himachal Pradesh government is considering 50 per cent subsidy to farmers on farm crops, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said.

Agriculture needed to be given priority with a view to improve economic condition of the people in rural areas, he said addressing the inaugural function of the week—long state—level Renuka fair at Nahan in Sirmaur district late last evening.

The CM said that relief and rehabilitation plan would be implemented for the welfare of Renuka dam oustees at a cost of Rs 200 crore, an official release said on Thursday.

Mr. Dhumal also said that Rs 15 crore Renuka tourism development circuit had been envisioned for sustainable development of Renuka area.

The state government also plans to implement organic farming project, the CM said.
