The Bombay High Court in Goa on Monday refused bail to the former Tourism Minister, Mickky Pacheco, and his former Officer on Special Duty, Lindon Monteiro, in connection with the Nadia Torrado unnatural death case.
Mr. Pacheco is a prime accused while Mr. Monteiro is a co-accused in the case.
The court said the custodial interrogation of Mr. Pacheco was necessary as it was a serious case.
A district and sessions court in Margao has already denied bail to the two.
In his earlier bail petition, Mr. Pacheco claimed that he was being framed in the case related to the death of Nadia (28) for political reasons.
Mr. Pacheco, who has been on the run since he was interrogated by the police, resigned as a Minister a couple of weeks ago. He admitted that the deceased was his friend.
Mr. Monteiro too has been missing since June 6 after he was booked for destroying evidence.
The Goa police have registered a case accusing Mr. Pacheco of culpable homicide and destroying evidence.
Nadia died on May 30 at a Chennai hospital. After she allegedly consumed poison at her residence in south Goa, she was treated at a hospital in Margao and subsequently taken to a Mumbai hospital from where she was rushed to Chennai.
