Heavy and incessant rains have thrown normal life out of gear in Mumbai as rail and road traffic was disrupted inconveniencing lakhs of communters.

Traffic snarls were reported on the busy Eastern Expressway while water-logging was reported in Bhoiwada, Mahim and Matunga areas, BMC sources said.

Suburban trains on the Central and Harbour Line were running at least 30-40 minutes late since morning due to water-logging on tracks in some places. Also, some trains were shifted from fast to slow tracks, due to inundation.

However, train services on the Western line were said to be on schedule.
