The heat wave conditions made a comeback in most parts of western Rajasthan on Sunday as no rainfall occurred in over a month in the state while Churu became the hottest place at 42.8 degrees Celsius, a MeT report said.
Winds carrying dust blew in the hot and dry weather conditions affecting the normal life in entire state as moisture level reduced to less than ten per cent in day hours, the report said.
Mild heat wave conditions persisted in western Rajasthan covering Jaisalmer which recorded maximum temperature of 41.6 degrees Celsius, Bikaner 41.4, Sriganganagar 41.1, Jodhpur 41, and Barmer 40.5.
Jaipur’s outer areas and adjoining villages experienced dust raising winds with temperature rising to 39.7 degrees.
Elsewhere, the maximum temperature varied between 36.4 to 39 degrees.
Since July this year, 22 districts out of 33 of the state have received 19 per cent less rainfall than the normal.
Though the state has received an average of 485.56 mm rainfall as against 501.56 mm last year.
Jaipur has witnessed rainfall deficit with an average of 335.35 mm as against 500 mm in 2014, according to Irrigation department.
