The Delhi High Court on Monday reserved its order on the petitions filed by Congress leaders, which had assailed the trial court’s order summoning documents from the Ministries of Finance and Corporate Affairs and other agencies, besides the party’s balance-sheet in connection with the National Herald case.
Justice P.S. Teji of the High Court reserved the order after the petitioners’ counsel completed their rebuttal arguments. The trial court had passed the order on an application moved by complainant in the case and BJP leader Subramanian Swamy.
Congress leaders Motilal Vora, Oscar Fernandes, Sam Pitroda and Suman Dubey had challenged the decision of the trial court, which had recently ordered production of balance sheets of Associated Journals Private Limited (AJL) and Indian National Congress for the purpose of investigation.
The Congress leaders challenged the order primarily on the grounds that no notice was issued to them before summoning the documents and there was “non-application of mind” by the trial court.
