June 23, 2010 08:21 pm | Updated 08:21 pm IST - CHANDIGARH:

Nearly 45 lakh electricity consumers of Haryana will get power on cheaper rates as the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) have decided to revise downwards the rates of fuel surcharge from July 1.

UHBVN Managing Director Arun Kumar said here on Wednesday that the domestic category consumers would get a relief ranging from four paisa to 13 paisa per unit depending on the consumption of electricity units.

The first 40 units would be charged @ 15 paisa instead of 19 paisa per unit. The consumers with consumption between 41 and 300 units would have to pay 29 paisa instead of 39 paisa per unit. More than 300 units would be charged @ 37 paisa instead of the existing 50 paisa per unit.

The fuel surcharge on non-domestic supply would be 31 paisa per unit as against 49 paisa at present. The High Tension industrial consumers, Street Lighting Supply and Bulk Supply category consumers would have to pay 31 paisa per unit instead of existing 48 paisa. Low Tension industrial consumers would pay 32 paisa per unit as against 50 paisa per unit earlier.

Mr. Kumar stated that the bills for July would be sent in August and September as per monthly/ bi-monthly schedule and the consumers would see the effect of revised fuel surcharge in those bills.
