The Haryana government has decided to pay the arrears of enhanced Dearness Allowance (DA) in cash to those State government employees who have been drawing their salary in the pre—revised scale as per 5th Pay Commission.

A proposal to this effect has been approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, an official spokesman of Finance Department said on Thursday.

The government earlier had decided to enhance the DA for its employees with effect from January 1.

The spokesman said that such employees would get enhanced DA of 245 per cent, thus registering an increase of 11 per cent. At present they are getting DA at the rate of 234 per cent.

With this revision, the State exchequer would bear an additional burden of Rs 6.53 lakh annually. -- PTI
