Haryana Governor Jaganath Pahadia on Monday gave his assent to the Haryana Sikh Gurdwaras (Management) Bill 2014, which was passed by the Assembly on July 11, to allow creation of a separate committee to manage Sikh shrines in the State.

This has paved the way for the State government to lay down an ad hoc management until the formal elections to the 49-member general house were held.

Talking to reporters at a “Meet the Press” programme organised by the Chandigarh Press Club, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that with the Governor’s assent, the Bill had become law and the government would notify it soon.
