December 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 24, 2016 11:38 am IST - GURGAON:

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday said that his government was eyeing four lakh jobs and investment worth over Rs.1 lakh crore through the proposed two-day “Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit-2016” in March next year.

Interacting with the mediapersons at the first roadshow in Delhi, Mr. Khattar, in reply to replicating Gujarat Model in Haryana, said that each State had its advantages and disadvantages and the model followed by one cannot be fully replicated by another. “While Haryana surrounds Delhi on three sides, Gujarat does not have this advantage. Similarly, land prices are low in Gujarat compared to Haryana. So we cannot fully implement the model of any other State.”

Mr. Khattar said that it was difficult to say as to how many companies would participate in the summit and how much investment would be made. He said that his government had hiked the minimum wages to the workers and would work towards creating an amiable atmosphere for the industry and good working conditions for the workers.

Mr. Khattar, who also launched the ‘Start-up’ programme by lighting the torch, said that the programme was aimed at generating the spirit of entrepreneurship among the youth of the State.

Giving out details, Principal Secretary Devender Singh said that the ‘Start-up’ torch would be taken to various universities and colleges in the State, apart from units associated with the fields of technical, management and industry. The torch would finally reach the venue of ‘Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit-2016’ in Gurgaon on March 8, 2016. Five students giving best suggestions in this regard would be honoured on the concluding day of the summit.

Speaking on the occasion, Haryana Industries Minister Captain Abhimanyu said that steps were being taken to organise boot camps and roadshows for start-up awareness with the joint efforts of State Government and Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce. These boot camps would be organised in colleges and universities across the State from January onwards.

Earlier, several multi-national and national companies expressed their willingness to set up their ventures in Haryana in the field of food processing, industrial parks, electronics, health care, civil aviation, solar energy, warehousing and skill development at the roadshow in Delhi. The Haryana Government plans to organise four more roadshows at Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
