Haryana amends marriage registration rules

The State government has amended the Haryana Compulsory Registration of Marriages Rules 2008 for the verification of persons of foreign domicile from the embassy of the country in case the marriage of any Indian citizen is solemnised in India with a foreigner.

“A notification to this effect had been issued by the Home Department. As per the notification, in case of marriage of any Indian citizen solemnised in India with a person of foreign domicile, the Registrar of Marriages would verify the domicile from the embassy of the country of which the person claims to be citizen,” an official spokesman said here on Sunday.
