Hardcore Maoist arrested from a Jharkhand village

A hardcore Maoist was arrested and two landmines, explosive materials and posters were seized from him from a village in Jharkhand, close to the Orissa border, police said here on Wednesday.

A joint team of police and CRPF arrested Kushal Kerketa (24) from Raidihi village in Jharkhand area during the combing operation on Tuesday, they said.

He was allegedly involved in several Maoist incidents in Sundergarh district, including blasting of Bandamunda railway cabin last month.

Kushal was said to be a right hand man of Sameer, a Nuagaon Maoist area commander of Jharkhand.
