April 21, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - BATHINDA:

To avenge the alleged rape of his 8-year-old daughter, a man chopped off both the hands of the 17-year-old accused in Bhatinda district of Punjab, police said on Wednesday.

The girl was raped in April 2014. Both the victim and the accused hail from the same village. After a hearing in the case at Bhatinda District Court on Tuesday, the victim’s father asked the accused to accompany him on his motorcycle and discuss a compromise in the case on their way back home, police said.

When they reached near Jhumba village, the victim’s father allegedly tied the youth to a tree and chopped off his hands below the wrist. He also inflicted other injuries on the youth, police said. - PTI
