A 51-member Gujjar delegation today left for Jaipur from here to hold fresh round of talks with Rajasthan government to resolve the 14-day-old stir by the community demanding five per cent reservation in government jobs.
“21 agitators are from Pilukapura while 30 others are from different districts. They agreed today and would hold talks with the committee of ministers at Jaipur,” Bharatpur District Collector Krishna Kunal told PTI.
The delegation would hold fresh parleys with the committee of State ministers comprising Energy Minister Jitendra Singh, Home Minister Shanti Dhariwal and Transport Minister B K Sharma in Jaipur.
Roop Singh, a close aide of Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla, said after the meeting with the ministers, the delegation will discuss it with the community people following which Mr. Bainsla may come to Jaipur to hold further talks.
Official sources said that the Gujjar delegation was informed about the outcome of the meeting that Congress leaders of the community held yesterday at the State capital after that the members decided to proceed for Jaipur.
Representatives of nomade communties are also the part of the delegation that would be headed by a person named Basanta, the delegates are likely to reach Jaipur by evening.
The protestors had on Friday demanded the intervention of Congress leaders from the community before the third round of talks following which Gujjar Congress leaders including Union Minister of State Sachin Pilot held a meeting at Jaipur and made fresh appeal to the agitators to come Jaipur to end the deadlock.
Second round of talks was held on Thursday last between a 11-member delegation and government officials at Bayana and the first round was held on last Sunday at Pilukapura, the epicentre of the agitation, with Energy Minister Jitendra Singh representing the state government.
The High Court on December 22 had stayed the operation of an Act granting five per cent reservation to Gujjars and directed the state government to undertake a data collection exercise within one year to justify the quota for members of the community.
The agitators have been blocking Mumbai-Delhi rail tracks and Jaipur-Agra National Highway and several other roads in support of their demand.
