Greenfield Expressway will link villages, towns

January 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 09:48 am IST - LUCKNOW:

Underscoring the utility of the Agra-Lucknow Greenfield Expressway for the farm community, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said the project will serve as a link between the villages and big towns.

One of advantages of the project, according to the officials, is that it would give a fillip to rural economy. This point was underlined by Mr. Yadav when he said that not only would the Expressway enable the farmers to transport their produce to the urban markets in double quick time, the construction of “mandis” along the highway will be an added advantage. “These mandis will be equipped with modern facilities and steps would be taken for setting up food processing units there,” said Mr. Yadav at the inauguration of the three day “Agri-horti Tech Uttar Pradesh” at Smriti Upvan here on Thursday.
