In a significant development, the Governor’s secretariat has warned Utkal University that it would run the risk of cancellation of faculties, who would be selected through process of recruitment made in contravention of UGC rules.
J. B. Mishra, additional secretary to Governor S.C. Jamir, who is also chancellor of Utkal University, shot off a letter to Vice-Chancellor P. K. Sahu drawing his attention on recruitment advertisement. “A fresh advertisement for recruitment of one contractual lecturer and one placement officer for the MBA department of Utkal University has come to the notice, which has not been made as per the amended provisions of stature observing the UGC norms,” Mr. Mishra mentioned.
The Governor’s secretariat said, “further reports called for on allegations of irregularities in the recruitment of contractual lecturers in the department of MBA Utkal University have not yet been received through two letters had been issued by this office.”
It is to be noted that for faculty positions, candidates must have to possess post graduate degree in concerned subjects, besides having qualified in NET (national eligibility test). However, university sources said, attempts were made to overlook the basic criteria for selection of faculties.
“Any recruitment made in contravention of UGC Rules and guidelines for faculty positions shall liable the recruitment the risk of cancellation or declaring it null and void. Legal complicacies may be best avoided as desired,” Mr. Mishra warned in his letter.
