The Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha witnessed vociferous scenes during Governor Margaret Alva's address, forcing her to hurriedly wrap up her speech on Tuesday.
The entire Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was up on its feet — first raising anti-government slogans and then switching to slogans urging the Governor to address the legislators in Hindi and not English. The members shouted slogans such as Rashtra Bhasha ka apman nahi chalega (disrespect to the national language will not be tolerated) and Rajyapal wapas jaao (Governor go back).
The Governor began her speech in Hindi and switched to English, before concluding it in Hindi.
A calm but disturbed Ms. Alva later told reporters that the Constitution did not lay down any specific language for the President or Governor. “They [the BJP] had to say something…I have no ill-feelings against anyone.”
The sloganeering continued for about 30 minutes after which the House was adjourned till 3 p.m. It continued when the House reassembled, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House till Wednesday.
Tuesday's proceedings were held without Leader of the Opposition as the BJP is yet to name a person for the job. Ajay Bhatt of the BJP said the party wanted the Vijay Bahuguna government to prove its majority before taking up legislative businesses.

But Our constitution never specified Hindi is India's national language.
Where is the "raashtra" bhaasha? India doesn't have a National language
(raashtra bhaasha), hindi is raja bhaasha not raashtra bhaasha as the
hindi wallahs have been fooling others.
These BJP people have to be educated that the Constitution does not mention anywhere of any national language.
If all states start demanding the Governor to talk in the language of their own state, where will this country head to ?
The Speaker should suspend those MLAs for first not having understood the basic provisions of the constitution , which doesn't confer national language tag on any language !
Whether it is Parliament or a State Assembly, if BJP happens to be the
Opposition party, then it is their inherent mannerism, behavior and
party's motto to act and enact such scenes only. Political tolerance is
a trait not known to them.
When does a person behaves the way BJP MLA's did today????
YES, the answer is-When there is no issue to raise but frustration is there, so in order to take that frustration out, they were shouting for something which was illogical and slogans were being raised just for the heck of it............Will BJP ever change???Except for Sh A.B.VAJPAYEE there is no leader worth being called a CLEAN face whereas Congress has quiet a few. So its understandable for them to be indisciplined due to lack of leadership at all levels.
