Government to reconstitute TVC

May 28, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:42 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Delhi government has finally relented and accepted reconstitution of the Town Vending Committee (TVC) under the New Delhi Municipal Council.

Angered by inadequate representation in the TVCs formed in NDMC and the Delhi Cantonment area, hundreds of street food vendors protested outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence on Thursday morning. Taking note of the strong dissent, the government later called for a meeting with representatives of the street food vendors and announced de-notification of TVC under NDMC.

“We submitted a six-point memorandum to the government. The Chief Minister has agreed to dissolve the newly formed TVC in NDMC area,” said Tasnim Arif, program coordinator at National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI).
