Goods train sans driver rolls 1 km; staff suspended

A goods train rolled without a driver for one km in Dausa district of Rajasthan, prompting North Western Railway to suspend the Assistant Station Master and the train staff.

The incident took place on Sunday when the train, that was at Bhankri station, started rolling without its driver for nearly one km, NWR CPRO Tarun Jain said on Monday.

A committee was formed to probe the matter which found Assistant Station Master K P Meena, driver Brijbihari, guard Ramesh Chand and assistant driver Man Singh responsible for the incident, following which they were suspended, he added.
