With a view to encourage small families, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to start new gold and silver card schemes in the State.
The card holder will not only get economic benefits but also other benefits, official sources said today.
The children of card holders will get economic benefits for their marriage and education. Besides, the card holders will get reservation in jobs, relaxation of age limit in jobs whereas government workers will get additional increment in their wages, they said.
Sources in the Health and Family Welfare Department said for population stabilisation, the State government has planned to cut the current gross reproduction in Chhattisgarh to 2.1 from 2.6, they said.
Golden card will be provided to those couples who, after having one daughter or a son, have undergone sterilisation. Besides, the male will receive Rs 20,000 for sterilisation whereas women will receive Rs 10,000 after the operation, they said.
Similarly, silver card will be provided to those couple who have two children, including a daughter, along with Rs 7,000 for men undergoing sterilisation and Rs 3,000 for women undergoing the operation, they said.
For the golden card holder, the daughter will be provided with a fixed deposit amount and after 18 years, she will be provided with Rs 50,000 for her marriage, they said adding silver card holder girl will receive Rs 10,000.
