Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday congratulated Pune schoolgirl Vaidehi Reddy, whose doodle depicting Assam as a natural and cultural paradise, has been featured on Google India Homepage on the occasion of Children’s Day.

To fulfil her wish, Mr. Gogoi announced that his government would invite Vaidehi, a student of Army Public School, Pune, and her family to Assam. “My government will arrange everything during her stay here. I would also invite her to breakfast with me,” he said in a statement here.

“She has showcased Assam on an international platform. Her unbounded love and affection towards Assam is commendable and praiseworthy,” added Mr. Gogoi.

The theme for this year’s competition was “A place in India I wish to visit,” and Vaidehi’s doodle titled ‘Natural and Cultural Paradise ­ Assam,’ highlighted the one­horned rhinoceros, tiger, bamboo trees, flower, tea, bihu dance, a japi (traditional hat) to showcase the State’s richness.

Taking part in the official Children’s Day programme here, the Chief Minister announced that his government would undertake a Rs. 50-crore scheme for the welfareof children and for promotion of talent.
