Arrested self-styled godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Roul’s adopted son Satyam Roul (20) was arrested by the Odisha Crime Branch police on Wednesday evening after a week-long search for him at many places in State and outside.

Sources said a police team traced Satyam in a Mumbai hotel after tracking his cell phone call records and debit card transactions. With the help of local police, he was taken into custody on Tuesday evening. He was brought here on Wednesday afternoon and after initial questioning, he was arrested.

While it has not yet been ascertained as to under what charges Satyam has been booked, sources said the police are planning to build a strong case against him as he is believed to have shifted valuables, including gold, from the godman’s ashram in Kendrapara district.

Satyam would be produced before the court of SDJM here on Thursday morning where the prosecution would seek a five-day remand.

The police have detected several bank accounts operated by him and he is allegedly owner of many landed properties, buildings and huge fortunes.

The godman, who was arrested on August 7 under several charges of cheating, forgery, criminal intimidation and conspiracy, is now lodged in Choudwar jail here after his bail application was rejected.
