Goa Governor nominates 9 persons under Swacch Bharat

Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, who has been nominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as one of the ambassadors for the Swaccha Bharat campaign, on Friday nominated nine ambassadors for the mission to take the cleanliness drive forward

Those nominated are Ms. Kiran Bedi, Mr. Avdesh Kumar, Ms. Hema Sardessai (singer), Prince Jacob (Konkani artist), Goa Forest Minister Alina Saldnha(BJP), Congress MLA Mauvin Godinho, Mr. Ashok Bhagat, Parmashree V. N. Sahi, Mr. Bharat Patak- Ms. Nandita Patak.

Speaking at a ‘Swachha Bharat-Nital Goem’ campaign at the KTC Bus terminus in Panaji on Friday, Ms. Sinha said that cleanliness is the fundamental responsibility of every citizen.

The Governor administered “Swachata shapat” (Pledge of cleanliness) to the people on the occasion and called upon the people of Goa to wholeheartedly participate in the cleanliness drive and while doing this, she said, ‘we need to also clean our minds at the same time’.

Presenting his vote of thanks, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that every thing that begins with Goa goes well as the State is a blessed land.
