Goa government on Wednesday told the State legislative Assembly in a written reply that it will not allow Hindu rightwing outfit of Sri Ram Sene to start its operations in Goa.

The reply was given to an unstarred question tabled by ruling BJP MLA Vishnu Wagh whether the government will allow “communal outfit of Sri Ram Sene led by Pramod Muthalik to start its operations in Goa?”

The government, in its reply further said that the government has not found any concrete evidence to prove that Muthalik is trying to create a communal divide in Goa.

During the question hour, Mr. Parrikar also reassured the House about ‘no entry’ to Sri Ram Sene, when Congress MLA Aleixo Reginald Lourenco raised the issue.

Mr. Muthalik had earlier announced that he would start Sri Ram Sene branch in Goa by September.

While replying to another question over views expressed by some Goa Ministers suggesting ‘ban on Bikini and ban on pub-culture’, asked by Congress Legislator Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, the Chief Minister said that these were personal opinions and the government had made it clear earlier also that they were not the views of the government.

The Chief Minister said that the opinions expressed were interpreted in different ways to sensationalise by some sections of media.

Mr. Parrikar emphatically reiterated that government had not decided to put any ban on pub culture or any restriction on dress.

“In case there was any problem pertaining to excessive drinking, there is law to tackle such individual and stray cases.” In the same manner, he said “if there is any obscenity, there was law dealing with obscenity.”
