Goa rights panel transfers kidnapping case

The State Human Rights Commission, Goa, headed by Justice (retd) P. K. Mishra on Tuesday ordered that the case pertaining to the kidnapping of 4-year-old boy be transferred from Vasco Police station to the Crime Branch of Goa police.

The boy was kidnapped on December 2, 2011 from Baina, Vasco in south Goa. The case was initially registered as missing but after the matter was taken by Arz, non governmental organization, working for trafficked women and children, an FIR for kidnapping was registered by the police.

After the police failed to trace the boy, his approached the State Human Rights Commission Goa for intervention.

The Human Rights Commission has been monitoring the investigation since August, 2012. As there was no progress in the case, it transferred the case to the Crime Branch, Goa.
