Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has admitted that the coastal tourist state of Goa was facing a power shortfall of around 150MW during peak hours. He said in Goa on Wednesday that the State was getting 360 MW of power from various entities as against its rising demand of 480 MW.
He said that the situation was expected to improve once Goa gets power from Chattisgarh. The agreement for supply of power would be signed with Chhattisgarh government in August this year. He also said that plans to improve power supply have been drawn by his government and it would invest Rs.300 crore in various projects for upgrading the power supply network, which was the source of power interruptions faced by people in recent times. Significantly, the State has last week announced an Investment policy 2014 proposing to attract Rs.25,000 crore investment in next five years in Information Technology, tourism and healthcare sectors, among others.
