Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) President Shibu Soren, who has emerged as the king maker after the Jharkhand assembly elections threw up a hung house, on Thursday said he would “settle for nothing less” than the chief minister’s chair.

“I will settle for nothing less. There is no compromise on the chief minister’s post,” Soren, who was earlier chief minister for two short periods, told reporters here.

JMM has won 18 seats in the 81-member House.

“The JMM is the single largest party and I should be given the chance to form the government,” he said.

Asked whether he would settle for a berth in the Union Cabinet or the post of deputy chief minister for his son, Hemant, he replied, “I will meet my new MLAs and leaders this afternoon before taking any decision.”

The Congress (14) and the JVM-P (11) is the single largest alliance with the BJP-JD(U) alliance with 20 in second place.

The JMM along and the BJP are the single largest parties with 18 seats each.
