A meeting between suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh and party general secretary Mukul Roy triggered speculation even as the two remained tight-lipped about their discussion.

The meeting is the first since the suspension of the Rajya Sabha MP in September and it comes amid his repeated interrogation in the Saradha scam by the investigating authorities here and in Delhi.

Mr. Ghosh is scheduled to go to Delhi again in this connection to appear before the Serious Frauds Investigation Office.

Mr. Ghosh termed the meeting a “courtesy visit” after Durga Puja and appeared happy.

“It was a courtesy visit. Mukulda is a senior leader of my party,” Mr. Ghosh said.

Mr. Ghosh, who headed the erstwhile Saradha Group’s media unit, wondered on Saturday if only the media business of the Saradha group was being probed.

After his eighth appearance before the investigating authorities, he said that it appeared as if only he knew the chief of the scam-tainted Saradha group.

The Saradha scandal came to light in April after the company went bust and defaulted on payments to lakhs of depositors who had invested in deposit-seeking schemes.

Mr. Ghosh’s interrogation started soon after he raised his dissenting voice against the party.
