The 30-km-long, four-lane Chittorgarh by-pass is ready for traffic.
The by-pass, constructed at a cost of Rs.210 crore by Ashoka Buildcon Limited jointly with Valecha Engineering Limited for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), will ease traffic congestion and pollution in the Rajasthan town of Chittorgarh and function as an important link to National Highway 76 and NH 79.
Announcing the completion of the by-pass -- which will be handed over to the NHAI soon -- Ashoka Buildcon director S. P. Londhe said the project, built in a record time, has one major bridge and a railway over-bridge besides two flyovers and 16 underpasses. The by-pass will prove a boon to road users and transporters in the area, he said.
The Chittorgarh by-pass, facilitating smooth flow of traffic on the East-West Pindwana-Udaipur-Chittorgarh-Kota-Varanasi route (NH 76) and the North-South Rajasthan border to Kishangarh (NH 79) has been built on a cash contract basis, which means if it has to be a toll road, the NHAI will be the one to decide. The 30-km stretch of the by-pass falls between Gangrar and Rithola.
