Four members of a family were killed when the two motorcycles they were riding were hit by a vehicle in Swaroop Nagar here early on Sunday.
A couple, their five-year-old son, and another member died. The dead man’s two other children are undergoing treatment. None of them were wearing helmets, the police said.
According to the police, the victim, Deshraj (32) and his family had been to a relative’s wedding in Alipur on Saturday night after which they were returning home on separate bikes. Deshraj and his younger brother Yogesh were riding the two motorcycles. Behind Deshraj sat his wife Kavita, 27, and their two-year-old daughter Kiran. Yogesh was accompanied by Deshraj’s son and daughter Nitin, 5, and Sadhna, 3, respectively.
“We received a call about the accident from a passerby around 5:30 am on Sunday. When we reached the National Highway 1 in Alipur area, we found the six victims scattered on the road and two damaged motorcycles some distance from them,” said a police officer adding that no helmets were found at the spot.-PTI
