Four jawans of India Reserve Battalion (IRB) were killed and six seriously injured on Saturday when unidentified militants ambushed their vehicle in Manipur’s Imphal East district, an official said.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. when the personnel were coming to Imphal. The militants fired at the vehicle when the personnel reached Oksu, about 18 km north-east from here, the official said.

In the exchange of fire that followed, four IRB personnel were killed on the spot, he said, adding six jawans sustained serious injuries.

All the injured were taken to Regional Institute of Medical Science and Hospital.
