At least four persons were injured in a stampede at a studio at Dum Dum on Wednesday evening where thousands of people, particularly women, had gathered to take part in a reality show organised by a private television channel, police said.

The stampede occurred as things went out of control with nearly 25,000 people having gathered at the studio since Tuesday night to participate in the reality show, police said.

Given the size of the gathering, the organisers announced that the opportunity to participate would be given on a first come, first served basis.

A mob also ransacked the studio and clashed with the organisers, police added.
