Four persons abducted by the insurgents of outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) have been released, police said today.

Five villagers were taken away by armed NLFT insurgents from a field at Boalkhali in Dhalai district, near the Indo-Bangla border, on August 29. The ultras released two of them the next day.

Police said following massive combing operations in the area, the insurgents released the remaining three unharmed yesterday.

In a separate incident, three tribal villagers were kidnapped by the members of NLFT from Desharaipara in Dhalai district on Tuesday. Of them, one person was released yesterday, police said.

They claimed that massive security operations and people’s pressure on the ultras forced them to release the abducted men.
