Former Ranji player commits suicide

Former Ranji Trophy player Amol Jichkar allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday by hanging himself from a ceiling fan inside his house, according to the police. Amol, 38, was staying with his wife and son at Civil Lines, and was found hanging at 5 a.m., a police officer of Sitabuldi police station said. Prima facie , it appeared that he was facing a financial crisis, he said. No suicide note was found.

Amol played Ranji Trophy for Vidarbha between 1998 and 2002, an office-bearer of Vidarbha Cricket Association said.

He represented Vidarbha in six first-class games.
