Former Advocate General of Odisha Ashok Mohanty was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday for alleged misuse of his official position and misappropriation of funds of chit fund firm Artha Tatwa Group.

Mr. Mohanty, questioned by the CBI on September 13, was arrested from his residence in neighbouring Cuttack city and brought to the office of the investigating agency in Bhubaneswar.

Mr. Mohanty, however, told journalists that the truth will come to light.

The former Advocate General was produced before the designated CBI court in the city which remanded him in CBI custody for two days.

Although Mr. Mohanty had submitted his resignation after the Assembly election results were declared in May this year, the Naveen Patnaik Government accepted it only on September 12, a day before he appeared before the CBI for questioning.
