Former Manipur deputy CM dies

K. Amutombi, former deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, died here on Wednesday night at the residence of his son, K. Ratankumar, who is also the Works Minister.

The Manipur Assembly, now in session, made an obituary reference to Amutombi. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, deputy chief minister Gaikhangam Gangmei and other members recalled the selfless service he had rendered to the people.

The mortal remains of Amutombi were cremated on Thursday at his ancestral home at Mayang Imphal. Thousands of friends and well wishers came to pay their last respects.
