Former BJP MLA Jayrajsinh Jadeja was acquitted in a six-year-old murder case by a fast track court here on Monday.

The court, however, found one of the accomplices of Mr. Jadeja, Sameer Pathan as guilty and would decide the quantum of punishment later in the day.

Mr. Jadeja, along with his 15 accomplices, was chargesheeted in one Nilesh Raiyani’s murder over a land issue.

Raiyani was shot dead allegedly by Mr. Jadeja and his 15 accomplices on February 8, 2004 when Raiyani and his two friends Jagdish Satodiya and Ramji Markana were going in a car.

The group had opened fire at the trio in which Raiyani was killed on the spot while Mr. Markana escaped unhurt and Mr. Satodiya sustained injuries, police said.

Mr. Satodiya lodged a complaint against Mr. Jadeja and 15 others, including local BJP leader Jayanti Dhol and former U-19 cricketer Mahendra Sinh Rana, they said.

Mr. Jadeja was also acquitted in Vinu Shinghala murder case recently.
