Fodder scam: Ex-MP, former MLA, eight others convicted

Former parliamentarian R K Rana and ex-Bihar legislator Dhruv Bhagat were among 10 accused who were convicted today by a CBI court in a fodder scam case.

The court of special CBI judge set Monday to pronounce quantum of sentence after delivering the judgement against Rana, Bhagat, officials and suppliers in the case pertaining to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 37 lakh from Godda treasury in 1990s.

The court acquitted two other accused for lack of evidence.

Former Regional Director (Animal Husbandry Department) Om Prakash Diwakar, ex-Mobile Veterinary officer A K Sinha, Budget/accounts officer B B Prasad, another former official and four fodder suppliers were among the convicts.

This was the 44th out of 53 cases which ended in convictions in the Rs 950 crore fodder scam unearthed during the undivided Bihar regime.
