The All India Milli Council launched a special one-week training programme for school and madrasa teachers here on Wednesday to equip them with the latest trends in education and apprise them of new pedagogical techniques for effective teaching.
Rajasthan Education Minister Bhanwarlal Meghwal, inaugurating the programme at Rehmani Model Senior Secondary School here, said the State Government was committed to promoting educational standards among the minority communities. He said scholarships and education loans had been introduced to serve the purpose.
Newly elected Rajya Sabha Member Ashq Ali Tak, State Health Minister Aimaduddin Ahmed Khan and Milli Council's State secretary Abdul Qayoom Akhtar were among those present on the occasion.
Mr. Meghwal said a new education loan for vocational and technical streams with only 3 per cent annual interest rate would immensely benefit students of minority communities. This will be in addition to the scholarships released at various levels by the Union Government.
Calling upon the Muslim community to get the “maximum benefits of the State Government's welfare measures”, the Minister said 14 Kasturba Gandhi residential schools had been established for minority girls, 730 computers had been supplied to madrasas and textbooks of Class 1 to 8 had been distributed free of cost to students.
About 100 teachers of madrasas and upper primary and secondary schools in Jaipur city are taking part in the training programme divided into two batches. Mr. Akhtar said experts had been invited to impart training in the techniques for teaching modern subjects and evolving new methodologies for religious curriculum.
While Health Minister Mr. Khan called for an active support of social activists and NGOs for extending the benefits of the Union Government's schemes worth Rs.2,600 crores this year to minorities, Mr. Tak promised his backing for all initiatives to promote education among children in the State.
Rajasthan Madrasa Board Secretary Saud Akhtar provided details of the Board's work for modernisation of education in madrasas across the State. Mr. Meghwal also distributed cheques of scholarships to meritorious girls.
