Flash floods kill two in Jammu

Two persons were killed when flash floods, triggered by heavy rainfall, struck Rajouri and Kathua districts of Jammu region in the state, police said today.

Ranjeet Singh, a resident of Bajoon village in Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri, died after flash floods washed away his house last night, police said, adding, his body has been recovered from the debris.

In a separate incident, an unidentified person was swept away by flash floods in Ravi river in Kathua district today.

His body has been fished out, police said.

Heavy rains, which lashed some districts of Jammu region have triggered flash floods in Tawi, Chenab, Sanglad, Charsu, Basantar, Khanetar and Ujh rivers in Jammu, Poonch, Kathua, Reasi and Udhampur districts of Jammu region.
