Fariabad Police spokesperson Sube Singh told The Hindu said the attack appeared to be pre-meditated since the assailants were heavily armed.

Of the 25 people named in the First Information Report, the police claimed to have detained 19 for questioning. Besides, 10 more people have been detained in this connection. “It is yet to be ascertained whether the deceased died of bullet injuries or were attacked with sharp-edged weapons and lathis ,” said Mr. Singh, adding that several rounds were fired during the clash.
