At least five persons were killed and six were injured in an explosion in the Kotwali police station area of West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district.
According to the police, a bicycle bomb, which was placed on a culvert at Bajrapara, went off at 7 p.m., killing passersby.

Casualties“We are shifting the injured to the hospital … the situation is under control,” Shashikanta Pujara, Inspector General of Police, North Bengal, told The Hindu over telephone.
The injured have been admitted to the Jalpaiguri District Hospital and some to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
