Five crore management subsidy for women cooperatives

August 26, 2009 09:26 pm | Updated 09:26 pm IST - JAIPUR

The Rajasthan Government has sanctioned Rs.5 crore to a total of 500 women’s cooperative societies functioning across the State in the shape of the “management subsidy” for running the fair price shops and selling fertilisers to the farmers. The provision has been made in the revised State Budget announcements for 2009-10.

State Cooperative Minister Parsadilal Meena said that women’s cooperative societies and women’s self-help groups would be identified for the purpose shortly.

Mr. Meena said the release of subsidy would help women assume an important role in the village economy. The district-level committees will select the women’s cooperative societies with a good track record while taking into account their annual turnover and successful ventures.

The selected cooperative societies will make arrangements for shops and godowns on their own, while the staff will be employed through outsourcing. A working capital from the revolving fund established in the Apex Bank will also be made available to the cooperative societies at the interest rate of 2 per cent.
