A manufacturing unit of Subros, which makes air conditioners for automobiles, in Sector 8 of Manesar was gutted after a major fire broke out here on Sunday afternoon.
A portion of the building collapsed later, while some other parts developed cracks.
Though fire-fighters had a tough time controlling the fire, no casualties were reported.
Over 150 workers were inside the factory when the fire was reported around 2 p.m. The building was evacuated soon after the siren went off.
Over two dozen fire tenders were pressed into service after the Gurgaon Fire Service department was informed. “Six fire tenders from the Sector 29 fire station and two fire tenders each from the remaining three fire stations in Gurgaon and one from IMT Manesar were involved in the fire-fighting operation. Also, two fire tenders from the Maruti Suzuki plant and one each from neighbouring districts of Mewat and Rewari were pressed into service,” said fireman Charan Singh.
