Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has condoled the deaths in Thursday's stampede at an ashram in Uttar Pradesh.

At the outset of his reply on Friday to the debate on the motion of thanks to the President's address to Parliament, he announced a payment of Rs. 2 lakh to each of the bereaved families from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. Those with serious injuries will get Rs.50,000.
